CBCF - Atlantic Region received an $80,000 gift from TELUS

TELUS is helping to create a future without breast cancer by supporting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) – Atlantic Region.  Raising $80,000 through their recent Go Pink campaign, TELUS is contributing to a new Clinical Breast Cancer Research Fellowship that will drive improvements in the early detection of breast cancer, and will improve outcomes for those who are diagnosed with breast cancer.

In October 2011, TELUS announced that it would support CBCF by donating $25 from the sale of every pink BlackBerry Curve, as well as an additional $5 with each purchase of select pink phone accessories.  Individuals were also invited to create their own Pink network online.  This shareable photo gallery on Facebook gave Canadians the opportunity to feature their personal support network. For every new photo gallery created, TELUS contributed an additional $1 to CBCF. In total, this campaign raised $400,000 for women's breast health across Canada, with $80,000 of that right here in Atlantic Canada.

“The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is honoured to be the charitable partner of TELUS’ Go Pink Campaign,” said Jane Parsons, CEO of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation – Atlantic Region. “Breast cancer continues to be the most frequently diagnosed cancer among Canadian women, affecting more than 23,000 Canadian women and men in 2011. The donation from the TELUS Go Pink campaign will support a Clinical Breast Cancer Research Fellowship, which will build on our understanding of breast cancer and will ultimately lead to improvements in risk reduction, education, detection and treatment outcomes.”
TELUS has been a long-time supporter of charities that advance cancer research, awareness and detection.
