Pink Days in Bloom raises $22,500!

PDIB_chairNewfoundland and Labrador was blooming in pink this summer thanks to Pink Days in Bloom at garden centres across the province.

Last year was the inaugural event, hosted at Pat’s Plants and Gardens in Bay Bulls, Newfoundland and Labrador. The concept for this unique fundraiser was developed, and spearheaded by an incredible volunteer and breast cancer survivor, Linda Ryan. Together with Pat’s Plants and Gardens owner, Pat Puddester, and her amazing staff, they organized a special event to launch the ‘Invincible Spirit’ pink hydrangea - dedicated to all breast cancer survivors. A portion of sales from each pink hydrangea was donated to CBCF - Atlantic Region.

This year the event grew as Linda and Pat encouraged new garden centres to get involved too! With events ranging from tea gardens to softball tournaments, evenings of pink to patio makeovers, Pink Days in Bloom flourished throughout the gardening season.  At the end of the summer, the total funds raised tallied at just over $22,500!
