Test Yourself Challenge

Ten years ago, Alison Davidson lost her mother, Pat Crossman, to breast cancer. It was then that she first entered a team in the Run for the Cure in honor of her mother. The team’s name was Pat’s Pride and they’ve been running and fundraising ever since.

Thus, as a marker of this 10 year anniversary, Alison has decided to do something amazing! She’s launched her “Test Yourself” campaign and plans to run ten 10k races in 10 months in an effort to raise $100,000. These funds will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure which is Sunday, September 30th, 2012. The money will be raised through a variety of ways but primarily by selling “Test Yourself” T-shirts. As of February 29th, she’s sold over 200 T-shirts!

The tagline “Test Yourself” was initially intended to serve as a call to action for women to give themselves self-breast examinations and request breast screening tests from their doctors. “Test your girls” and be proactive about your health. But “Test Yourself” is much more than that. “Test Yourself” is a movement. Test your abilities, your beliefs, your creativity, your critical thinking, and your physical capabilities. That’s where the running comes in. Alison describes herself as a “fair-weather jogger” and looks forward to testing her physical capabilities!
