Wendy Slavin Announced as New CEO
Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - BC/Yukon Region
Vancouver, BC – Susan Ewanick, Chair, Board of Directors of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - BC/Yukon Region is pleased to announce the appointment of Wendy Slavin as the new CEO of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - BC/Yukon Region (CBCF), effective January 9th, 2012.
For 40 years, Wendy has been in leadership roles and most recently, prior to an interim retirement sabbatical, was the Senior Vice-President of Western Canada for CIBC. With the exception of Quebec, she has led and been responsible for teams in every province and territory and looks to bring a pan-Canadian approach to CBCF. Wendy is also no stranger to CBCF. During her time as CIBC Vice President of Atlantic Canada, she was one of the founding board members of the CBCF Atlantic Region, and has participated every year in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure from coast to coast, an event that CIBC has sponsored for many years.
“Wendy’s corporate experience, married with her community service and board work, makes her a valuable addition to the organization,” stated Susan Ewanick, Board Chair, CBCF BC/Yukon Region. Wendy has sat on the Boards of Covenant House, the Vancouver Board of Trade, and has served as Board director and Board chair for the BC Institute of Technology Foundation, and Board director and Board chair for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. She has also been a member of the Capital Campaign Council at BC Children’s and chaired their Miracle Weekend. “This truly feels like the natural next step in a journey I began years ago,” commented Ms. Slavin.
Wendy and her husband reside in the Lower Mainland and enjoy spending time with their two grown children.
