Chair (National Board Representative)
Lenora Gates’ 25-year career in commercial real
estate began with the formation of Gates Real Estate Services Ltd. in
1996. She is also a founding partner of Orange National Retail Group,
Inc. which provides real estate consulting and brokerage services to
regional, national and international retailers to facilitate expansion
into the Canadian market.
Lenora has also dedicated time to speak at the International
Conference of Shopping Centres, MAPIC, The Urban Development
Institute, The Real Estate Forum and British Columbia Shopping Centre
Association events. In 2009, she accepted a position on the Board of
Vancouver CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) and continues
active involvement. In 2000 and 2004, Lenora was
nominated as “Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year.”
is a breast cancer survivor and has served on the Board of the BC/Yukon Region since 2003. She chaired the
Awareness Day Luncheon from 2007 to 2012 and also acted as a
Director on the National Board since 2012. As the keynote speaker at
the 8th annual Night of Hope™ held in Richmond, BC, Lenora was
involved in bringing the event to the North Shore in
the spring of 2009. Lenora was also co-founder of Lifelines Targeted
Fundraising, which raised over $700,000 for the purchase of the first
digital image mammography machine at the BC Cancer Agency.
Lenora is married with two sons, and enjoys golf and gardening.
Alan C. Wallace
Alan recently completed a 26-year career with CIBC World Markets Inc. which included working with public and private companies across all aspects of corporate finance activity including debt and equity underwriting, corporate bank lending, corporate transactions and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to his departure from CIBC in October 2013, he was Vice Chairman and responsible for senior corporate relationships at CIBC.
Alan also spent three years in marketing for IBM handling high profile accounts and he has been an adjunct professor in the MBA Program at the University of British Columbia. Alan holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto and a MBA from the University of Chicago.
Alan joined the BC/Yukon Region Board in 2013 and has formerly sat on the Board of Directors for the Business Council of British Columbia, and was a Campaign Cabinet member for the United Way of the Lower Mainland.
Alan is married with three children and resides in West Vancouver. He enjoys participating in triathlons and cross country skiing loppets as well as coaching minor hockey.

Caroline Dunn has held financial executive and strategy roles in leading Canadian companies, both public and private, for the past 15 years. She is an accomplished leader in rapidly growing companies and has proven her ability to deliver shareholder value through strategic growth in North America and Europe. Prior to 1995, Caroline spent 10 years in public practice with PwC and E&Y in Canada and the UK. She is a Chartered Accountant (Scotland) and holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of Glasgow. She has served the board of the YWCA of Greater Vancouver on their Audit, Finance and Investment Committee and was on the Board of Donna Cona, an Aboriginal company for six years.
Caroline has been a member of the BC/Yukon Region Board since June 2009. She was also a member of the National Board, where she served as Treasurer from 2007 to 2009.
Caroline loves to travel, collects wine and enjoys the range of outdoor pursuits BC has to offer.
Dr. Ian Gardiner
Member, Research Grants Committee
Dr. Ian Gardiner is the Director of Advanced
Breast Imaging Program at the Canada Diagnostic Centre in Vancouver BC,
and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the UBC Department of Radiology.
Dr. Gardiner’s area of expertise is medical breast imaging, including
mammography, ultrasound and MRI.
Ian graduated from the
University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine in 1989 and
completed his residency in radiology and fellowship in body imaging at
the University of Toronto in 1996.
Dr. Gardiner joined the BC/Yukon Region Board in June 2009, where he serves on the Research Grants Committee.
Dr. Gardiner's hobbies include reading extensively and investing.
Joan C. Chambers
Member, Governance & Nominating Committee (National Board Representative)
Joan is a
partner at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in Vancouver, where she
practices in the areas of non-profit organizations, venture capital
financing, mergers and acquisitions, procurement and mining, general
corporate matters, joint venture transactions, commercial transactions,
business process outsourcings and general business law.

Joan is married with two teenage daughters, and spends time hiking, skiing and horseback riding.

Linda is an active member of the Vancity senior executive team, where she is responsible for engaging and growing membership through experience, products and services, and commitment to the local community.
Previously, Linda was CEO of CBCF- BC/Yukon. Prior to that, she held progressive positions including Deputy Minister of the Public Affairs Bureau for the Government of British Columbia; Vice President, Communications & Community Engagement for Vancouver Coastal Health; and Director of Public Affairs for the Vancouver Port Authority.
Linda received her MBA from Royal Roads University, MA in Canadian History from University of Toronto, and BA (Honours) in Canadian History from McGill University. She also holds certificates in Executive Management, Public Administration, and Public Relations from the University of Toronto, Ryerson and York University, respectively.
Linda joined the BC/Yukon Region Board of Directors in 2013, and has an extensive record of community involvement, including several leadership positions with the Vancouver Maritime Museum and the United Way.
Linda lives with her husband in Mount Pleasant. They enjoy travelling and exploring their neighbourhood.

Robert is a Chartered Accountant, and has practiced in the assurance group with PricewaterhouseCoopers
LLP (PwC) since 2004. Providing services to companies primarily in the
retail, manufacturing and service sectors, Robert assists them in dealing with the impact of growth and acquisitions, including complex
accounting, governance structures and private equity ownership.

program, and he has held lead roles in learning and development as well as in
campus recruitment. He has coordinated PwC corporate sponsorship for a
number of community initiatives including co-chairing the fundraising
for the PwC United Way Annual Campaign.
Robert joined the
BC/Yukon Region Board of Directors in 2013 and also sits on the
Board of Directors and Finance Committee for the Neil Squire Society.
Robert is a life-long resident of North Burnaby. He enjoys running, hiking and recently took up road biking.
Dr. Stephen Chia
Chair, Research Grants Committee
Dr. Stephen Chia is an Associate Professor of
Medicine, Department of Medicine, UBC, as well as a staff oncologist
with the BC Cancer Agency (BCCA). Dr. Chia also serves as Chair for the
BC Breast Tumour Group at the BC Cancer Agency and is a physician
coordinator for both the breast cancer and head and neck cancer clinical
trials at the BCCA – Vancouver Centre.
Awarded a CBCF

Wendi Campbell is a senior human resources
