2011 marks the fifteenth year that CIBC has been the title sponsor of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure.
CIBC's first involvement with the Run was initiated by a small by passionate group of employees in Victoria who came out in support of this cause, knowing they wanted to help make a difference for those struggling with the disease. Since 1992, CIBC employees and volunteers have raised a significant $26 million for the Foundation.
Team CIBC is led by a group of volunteer "Run Champions" who are responsible for team registrations and fundraising promotion of the CIBC Pink CollectionTM CIBC 'pink products', training branch employees on donation procedures and contributing to Run planning for each of the Run sites.
In early September, CIBC declares "Think Pink Week" to create that final push for employee and customer registration and fundraising. In Toronto, as in other cities, a special Think Pink event engages employees, provides a forum to share information regarding breast cancer, and celebrates the community that comes together to support those living with the disease.
On Sunday October 2nd, 2011, thousands of CIBC's employees, their families and friends will take part in the 20th annual Run, joining 170,000 people in 60 communities.
In 2010, $33 million was raised, including $3 million from Team CIBC through organizing community fundraising events, collecting pledges and proceeds from the CIBC Pink CollectionTM to help create a future without breast cancer.
The Foundation is proud of the strong partnership and the depth of commitment that has evolved within CIBC over the years.
CIBC proudly supports regional programs in additional to the national support they offer.
