SCREENING MAMMOGRAPHY
WHERE DO I GO TO HAVE A MAMMOGRAM?
Breast screening is available across Canada. Most of the provinces and territories have an organized breast screening program. By participating in the organized screening program in your region, you will receive additional benefits which may include:
- Regular monitoring of the mammography equipment, image quality and skill level of the staff to ensure high quality.
- Reminders of when you are due for your next screening.
- Proper follow-up if your screening reveals a breast abnormality.
- Regular performance evaluations to ensure that breast cancers are diagnosed in a timely manner.
- A letter sent to you and your doctor about your exam results.
All of the provinces and territories in Canada offer screenings for women aged 50 – 69. The eligibility for women outside of this age group varies from province to province and may require a doctor's referral.
