A Simple Kiss Symbolizes a New Dawn in Charitable Giving

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and Prostate Cancer Canada united to raise awareness and research funds for the most common cancers in Canadian women and men

FEBRUARY 19TH 2016 – TORONTO, ON - Prostate Cancer Canada and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation would like to recognize Canadians from far and wide (and in many cases their pets) for making the inaugural #Kiss2Cure campaign such a huge success.

Officially launched a month before Valentine’s Day, #Kiss2Cure invited Canadians from coast to coast to show their support for Prostate Cancer Canada and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation by sharing photos kissing loved ones online and making donations to research that is making a positive difference in the lives of those affected by both diseases.

From day one right through to February 14th, the outpouring of love and support demonstrated through heartwarming imagery and touching personal stories was nothing short of overwhelming. As a bonus to participants, campaign sponsor Air Canada demonstrated tremendous generosity by donating five romantic flights for two that were claimed by four lucky ‘Kiss of the Week’ winners and one lucky ‘Kiss of the Month’ winner.

We would like to extend huge congratulations to the following winners:

  1.     Peter Dickens, Lower Sackville, NS – Week 1 Winner: Flight for 2 to New York City

  2.     Ariel Chiu, Vancouver, BC – Week 2 Winner: Flight for 2 to Chicago

  3.     Heidi Wright, Oshawa, ON – Week 3 Winner: Flight for 2 to Los Angeles

  4.     Tracy Davidson, Toronto, ON – Week 4 Winner: Flight for 2 to San Francisco

  5.     Liz Bennett, Prince George, BC – Grand Prize Winner: Business Class flight for 2 to Paris

Both organizations would also like to express their profound gratitude to media sponsors the Globe & Mail, Clear Channel, and TLN for their gracious support in helping the first year of #Kiss2Cure such a resounding success.

“By uniting and collaborating with The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, we accomplished something no two charities have done before,” said Rocco Rossi, President and CEO of Prostate Cancer Canada, “Throughout the course of this month, we harnessed the power of love to raise awareness and funds for the most common forms of cancer in men and women as one unit.”

”The Kiss2Cure campaign proved to be a fun way for people to show their support for two great causes, and the imagination and passion conveyed in those thousands of images has been an inspiration, said Lynne Hudson, CEO of Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, “But Kiss2Cure also demonstrated the value of partnership and the strength we have when we work together for men and women and families dealing with cancer.”

By coming together, the aim of both organizations was to reach, engage, and educate more Canadians than ever before around the most common cancers in men and women. Through this approach, we moved closer to realizing our shared vision – reducing mortality and improving quality of life for Canadian men and women through research, advocacy, education, support and awareness.
