CBCF welcomes Willow

Willow CEO Karen Malone (left) and CBCF CEO Lynne Hudson

I am very happy to share some exciting news with you.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation has begun a bold, new chapter in our story; we have merged with our friends at Willow Breast & Hereditary Cancer Support. The new, combined organization will touch on the full spectrum of breast cancer – from the laboratory and clinic where the latest innovations are developed, to direct patient peer support. Read the full announcement here.

Since 1994, Willow has provided free-of-cost support, insight and information to anyone affected by breast cancer and they have been a valued partner of CBCF.  As of March 31, their support services, information and education programs will merge under the CBCF brand. Willow’s CEO, Karen Malone, is a former senior member of the CBCF team and she returns to the organization as our new Vice President of Research and Programs.

The joining of our two organizations means CBCF will be a leader in every stage of the breast cancer continuum. This change comes at an auspicious time, as CBCF celebrates our 30th anniversary since the launch of our organization, and as we join with our partners CIBC to mark 20 years of partnership on the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure, which this year takes place on October 2.

In the coming months in the wake of our merger with Willow, I look forward to introducing you to new team members and sharing the important work they are doing to improve the lives to people dealing with breast cancer. Of course, none of this is possible without you and your support for the Foundation. Thank you for your passion and commitment.
