Direct Mail - Contact Information Update
- How do I get my name removed from your mailing list?
  - Your name can be removed from our mailing list by emailing us at Connect@cbcf.org or phone 1-800-387-9816
- My father, mother or spouse is deceased. Can you please stop mailing them?
  - All deceased donor records are coded in our system as "deceased" and the donor will be removed from mailing list. If person is not a donor and has received our mailings, their name will be added to our "Do Not Mail" file and will not receive mailings from us in future.
- Can you please change my last name, address, etc?
  - Yes, we’d be happy to help, please contact us at 1-800-387-9816, ext 264 or email connect@cbcf.org and one of our Donor Services agents will be able to assist you.

- How do I go about making an in-memoriam/tribute donation?
  - You can make an online in-memoriam/Tribute donation by clicking on the Donate Now button (next to the pink Run for the Cure button at the top of your screen), or you can contact us by phone at 1-800-387-9816
- Can you please send an acknowledgement card to the family of the deceased or in-honour?
  - Yes, the Foundation can send acknowledgement cards to the family of the deceased or the in-honour/tribute person
- How do I know that my donation is going towards "research"?
  - Money raised in each region from local fundraising stays in that region to fund research and programs specific to the area. Ninety-five per cent of the net money from the Run for the Cure stays within the region in which it was raised. Direct Mail - Privacy Act
- Where or how did you get my name?
  - If you have received information or a mailing from the Foundation, your name may have been obtained from a third party rental list and although you’ve received a mail piece from us we were not provided with your contact information. However, if you provide us with the code on the mail you have received from us, we may be able to provide you with the organization from which we gathered your information. We can also add your information to our 'Do Not Mail' list if so desired.
- Can I view my personal record?
  - If you are a Run for the Cure participant you can view your personal profile by accessing your Participant Centre. However, at this point in time only our Run for the Cure database provides this viewing option
- Do you sell, trade or exchange your donor information with other charities?
  - The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation respects your privacy. We never sell, trade, or loan your information to any other organization. We will use your information only for follow-up contacts (such as our newsletters), statistical purposes, and to process and recognize your donations.
Direct Mail - Receipts
- I gave $10.00 and did not receive a tax receipt, can you please send me a receipt?
  - Gifts under $20.00 are not automatically issued tax receipts unless indicated. However, upon your request we are happy to issue you a receipt.
- The amount/name on my receipt is incorrect, can you please correct this?
  - Yes we can definitely make the correction and reissue the tax receipt with the correct information
- Can you please send me a duplicate tax receipt?
  - Yes, we will be happy to send you a duplicate receipt, please contact the Foundation at 1-800-387-9816, ext 264 or email connect@cbcf.org and one of our Donor Services agents will be able to assist you.
General FAQ's - Fundraising
- I’m having an event and would like to donate the proceeds to CBCF. Where do I send that money?
  - Please send the funds raised to your Regional Foundation office, contact information for your region is shown in the 'Contact Us' section in the menu at the top of this page. If you have further questions, please contact the Foundation at 1-800-387-9816, ext 264 or email connect@cbcf.org and one of our Donor Services agents will be able to assist you.
- Can I make items for sale using your logo?
  - If you are interested in supporting the Foundation through a cause-marketing or sponsorship program, please contact us directly at corpdev@cbcf.org or call 1-800-387-9816.
- I’m getting married and would like my guest to make a contribution to CBCF instead. Who can I speak with?
  - The Foundation has several options to include supporting the cause on your special day. To find information about our 'Tie the Knot' and/or 'Kiss for a Cure' programs in your region, select 'Events' under the 'Get Involved' menu at the top of the page. If you have further questions, we’d be happy to help, please contact us at 1-800-387-9816, ext 264 or email connect@cbcf.org and one of our Donor Services agents will be able to assist you.
- Can my company setup a booth at your event?
  - Booths are usually reserved for Sponsors. However, we are open to discussing this opportunity with you. Please contact us directly at 1-800-387-9816 or email corpdev@cbcf.org.
General FAQ's - Volunteer
- What is the minimum age to volunteer at the Central Office of the Foundation?
  - We accept volunteers who are 14 years of age and older to participate in our volunteer program. All volunteers under the age of 18 must obtain parental consent on all of the volunteer forms prior to being accepted into the volunteer program.
- Can I telephone someone and find out more about volunteer opportunities?
  - Yes. Individuals interested in becoming a volunteer are encouraged to contact the Central Office Volunteer Resources Department at 416-596-6773 ext. 229 to find out more about volunteer opportunities, and request an interview appointment
- What happens during the interview process?
  - Interviews are 30 minutes and include an orientation to the volunteer program followed by an instructional session in making pink ribbons. Interviews are generally scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays during business hours and the time can be adjusted to fit a volunteer’s schedule. Volunteers are welcome to bring a copy of their resumes to the interview.
- What is the Volunteer Agreement?
  - Each volunteer is required to fill out a volunteer agreement when accepting a volunteer position. The volunteer agreement outlines the expectations of the volunteer's involvement with the Foundation. *Please note that if you are under 18 years of age, you must obtain parental consent.
Run For The Cure - Donations
- How do I submit in-person donations?
  - In-person donations - donations not paid online - will be formally counted as part of your fundraising when they are received by the Foundation. You must first download and printout an offline donation form from either your Participant Centre or your location page. You can submit your in-person donations 2 ways: 1) Bring them to any CIBC Branch. The money will be deposited into the account listed on your donation form and CIBC will stamp your form(s). You must then mail the form(s) to the Foundation for final confirmation. 2) Mail your forms with donations in. Cheques are fine, but do not send cash in the mail. The mailing address is: Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation P.O. Box 829 Station K, Toronto ON, M4P 2H2
- Where can I find a donation form?
  - Log in to your Participant Centre to locate a downloadable donation form. Or you can download a donation form from your location page or pick up a form at a CIBC branch or Running Room store (available in July 2012).
- I want to submit my forms before or after the event. Can I send them by mail?
  - Yes. Forms can be mailed to the Foundation. If you are mailing your forms in before the Run for the Cure, please deposit your donations at any CIBC branch. Do not send cash in the mail. Please note that your forms are proof of your registration, so surrender these forms only when you pick up your kit. After the Run for the Cure, please mail forms to: Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation P.O. Box 829 Station K Toronto, Ontario M4P 2H2
- I am already registered at a Run for the Cure location, but now would like to change my location. How can I do this?
  - We’d be happy to help, please contact the Foundation at 1-800-387-9816, ext 264 or email connect@cbcf.org and one of our Donor Services agents will be able to assist you.
Run For The Cure - Fundraising Rewards & Awards
- How do I qualify for Fundraising Rewards?
  - All participants in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure who individually raise $300.00 or more are eligible for Fundraising Rewards. Participants who qualify for this program will be required to have all fundraising dollars deposited by October 31, 2011. After October 31, 2011, donations will be gratefully accepted but will not count towards your Run Rewards balance. Team donations do not count towards Fundraising Rewards.
- What are Fundraising Milestone Badges?
  - Milestone badges are a colourful way to show everyone what a great fundraiser you are! Each time you reach a Fundraising Reward milestone, a new coloured badge will appear on your profile. Milestone badges are also given out to anyone that makes a self donation or raises $150.00
- How do I receive Fundraising Rewards if I deposit donations at a CIBC Branch?
  - Once we have received your bank stamped donation forms and have processed them, your donation totals will be updated online. You will be able to login to your Participant Centre to see how many points you have earned. After October 3rd, 2011 you will be able to log into your Participant Centre and click on the shopping cart, this will take you to your redemption centre. Here you will be able to see how many points you qualify for, browse the catalogue and redeem your prizes. Participants who do not have an online account will be notified of their accumulated reward totals by letter after all donation forms have been processed by the Foundation. We anticipate having all offline donations forms that were handed in on or before Run day processed by November 30th, 2011.
Run For The Cure - General Information
- What is the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure?
  - The Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run that raises funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. It is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause.
- When is the Run for the Cure?
  - The 21st annual event takes place on Sunday, September 30, 2012.
- Do I have to actually run?
  - No. You can run or walk, 5k or 1k
Run For The Cure - Registration
- How do I register for the Run for the Cure?
  - You can Pre-Register for the 2012 Run for the Cure on our website at www.runforthecure.com. By Pre-Registering you will be the first to know about new updates to the website, when to register for your local Run site, you can create your team name and hear updates from the Foundation throughout the year. Online registration will be available when we launch our 2012 updated website site in March 2012.
- Can I register offline?
  - You may register via regular mail by downloading the registration form from your location page or by picking up a registration form at a CIBC Branch or Running Room store (available in July 2012). Visit www.runforthecure.com for more information.
- How much is the participation fee?
  - The participant fee is $40, but if you register and fundraise at least $150 before the event ($60 for youth), the participant fee is waived. Please note that if you pay the participant fee prior to raising $150, the participant fee cannot be refunded and is not eligible for a tax receipt.
Run For The Cure - Run Website
- Who is considered a ‘New Participant’?
  - An individual who has not participated in the Run for the Cure before. The participant will create their own username and password.
- Can I upload a video from a source other than YouTube on my personal donation page?
  - YouTube is the most widely accessed and viewed site for video information and has been selected as the only source.
Run For The Cure - Tax Receipts
- I made an online donation and I cannot open my tax receipt? Why is this?
  - Electronic tax receipts are sent in PDF format. If you currently do not have Adobe Reader on your computer, you will not be able to open the attachment. Download Adobe Reader: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/. For a replacement tax receipts, requests for reprints, and/or corrections please contact: connect@cbcf.org
- How long is the tax receipt valid for?
  - According to CRA guidelines, you have up to 5 years from the date of issue to include this on your tax return.
- Can I pick-up my tax receipts at CIBC or Running Room ?
  - The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation issues all tax receipts. Receipts are delivered by e-mail within 48 hours of an online donation (in PDF format) to the email address provided in the system. Offline tax receipts will be mailed directly to your contact address by the end of December. In order for tax receipts to be issued for bank deposited donations, all bank stamped donation forms must be mailed to: Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, PO Box 829, Station K, Toronto, ON M4P 2H2
Run For The Cure - Teams
- Do I have to have 10 members to form a team?
  - No. You can have as many or as little members as you would like to form a team. However, teams with less than 10 members are not eligible to receive t-shirts with your team’s name on the back. Teams with less than 10 members will receive regular event t-shirts.
- Can teams win awards?
  - Yes, there are 4 categories. To be eligible for awards, all team members must pay their participation fees and deposit their donations by Friday, September 28, 2012. In order to qualify for team prizes, all teams must consist of 10 or more members. Team award winners are announced at the Run for the Cure.
- Can I register my team the day of the event?
  - Yes, but only teams that register by Friday, September 14, 2012 will receive a team t-shirt with the team’s name on the back. Please connect with the team coordinator in your location for specific details. Your Run site team coordinator contact information will be available on your location page. Team registrations will not be accepted by fax.
