CENTRAL OFFICE VOLUNTEER AWARDS
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Central Office wishes to encourage, recognize and thank the volunteers who contribute their time, talent and efforts to make the work of the Foundation such a success each year. Volunteers play many roles in working with the Foundation: from answering phones to making pink ribbons to organizing Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure events in their communities. Volunteer support is invaluable, and the Foundation would not be able to achieve its goals without their dedication.
We encourage you to nominate a volunteer who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the Central Office volunteer program. A volunteer awards program has been developed to celebrate the diverse volunteer contributions that volunteers make to the Foundation. A minimum of one volunteer from each award category will be selected:
CENTRAL OFFICE VOLUNTEER AWARDS
- Corporate Commitment Award
This honour is awarded to a for-profit organization that has fostered an environment of volunteerism within the workplace for the benefit of the Foundation
- Friends of the Foundation Award
This award is given to a volunteer community group that has demonstrated how teamwork and community spirit can help to create a future without breast cancer.
- Voice of the Foundation Award
This award is given to an outstanding volunteer speaker who represents the Foundation and shares its message with others.
- Youth Volunteer Award
This award is given to someone under the age of 30 that demonstrates a commitment to creating a future without breast cancer.
- Outstanding Volunteer Award
This award is given to a maximum of three volunteers each year who are identified by staff to have shown a tremendous commitment to the Foundation's mission, vision, and values.
Award Nominator Categories Staff nominations – These are awards where Central Office staff nominate an outstanding volunteer that they have worked with. Peer nominated awards – These are awards where volunteers have an opportunity to nominate other volunteers. Self-nominations will be considered in this category when the proper criterion has been met.
2009 Nomination Criteria
To meet the minimum criteria to be nominated for the 2009 Central Office Volunteer Awards, a nominee must be:
- Recognized as an active Central Office between January 1, 2008 – December 31, 2008 by the Manager of Volunteer Resources
- Nominated by at least two nominators either Foundation staff and/or Peer nomination
- Nominated by April 18, 2009
Individuals submitting nominations will be asked to demonstrate the level to which their nominee meets the following criteria. Descriptions of the volunteer contributions must be a maximum of 250 words, and individuals submitting nominations should be asked to provide specific examples. The criteria for selection will be:
- Leadership (To what extent has the nominee demonstrated excellent
leadership as a Central Office volunteer?)
- Support (To what extent has this individual demonstrated a high level
of responsibility in their role as a Central Office volunteer?)
- Service Excellence (Describe how has this individual demonstrated outstanding
customer service to the Foundation, other volunteers, the Foundation’s stakeholders, etc.?)
- Innovation/Creativity (Describe how this individual has demonstrated
innovation/creativity in their volunteer role.)
