Twenty years ago breast cancer was a devastating disease that people only whispered about. There was little or no research and death was accepted as the final outcome. In fact, in 1986 three out of four women diagnosed with the disease died of it. A cure wasn't even a faint hope. Today, three out of four women diagnosed with breast cancer survive it, and creating a future without the disease is no longer a wish but a very real possibility.
