Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is Canada’s leading community-driven breast cancer charity dedicated to funding relevant and innovative research and supporting and advocating for the breast cancer community. As the largest non-governmental funder of breast cancer research in Canada, our investments in research and training are improving what is known and understood about breast cancer, facilitating advancements in prevention, earlier detection, treatment, and survivorship support.

Since 1986, the Foundation has invested over $100 million in Ontario alone through grants made as a result of fundraising – investing in groundbreaking research, fellowships and community health promotion projects.  ​



Ontario Region is now accepting applications to the program areas outlined below:

Researchers, physicians, allied health professionals, collaborative research teams, graduate students and post-graduate fellows from across Ontario are invited to apply for funding through the Foundation’s peer-reviewed grant competitions.

The Research Project Grant Program funds laboratory and pre-clinical investigations, clinical research, psychosocial, cancer control, survivorship, quality of life, and other breast cancer research projects. Proposed studies may include participatory, community-based methodologies. Funding requested for each project may not exceed $150,000 per year and $450,000 in total. Individual projects may have up to five years to complete.

The Fellowship Program supports research and/or academic or clinical training for graduate and post-graduate level scientists, physicians, and allied health professionals to pursue and develop expertise in breast cancer research and care.
