• Support Breast Cancer Screening

Can you help?  Ontario women 40 - 49 at average risk cannot participate in high quality breast cancer screening through the Ontario Breast Screening Program. These services are available in four other provinces. It's time to send the government a message.

  • Reduce your breast cancer risk

Advances in earlier detection, diagnosis and treatment are saving the lives of women with breast cancer, helping many to live longer and with a better quality of life. But the chance of a woman getting breast cancer in her lifetime is not changing.

Making a Difference

There was a time in Canada when breast cancer was a taboo subject. Women who were diagnosed were faced with limited treatment options, few community supports and a sense of silence pervading any discussion of what was – or was not – being done to improve their chances and their lives.

For the past quarter-century, thanks to a grassroots organization of concerned Canadians, things have started to change. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is proud to be part of that story.

Your Dollars At Work

Thanks to our network of volunteers, donors, and supporters, 2011 saw the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation – Ontario Region award $11.3 million in new grants to over 50 promising new breast cancer research projects and training fellowships across the province.

Our funding recipients are working on everything from mathematical tools designed to individualize cancer care, to understanding why breast reconstruction surgery is so rarely chosen, to establishing how our own immune systems might be put to use to successfully fight breast cancer from within.
