The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, along with its donors, sponsors and partners raises millions of dollars for the purpose of supporting the advancement of breast cancer research, education, early detection, prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
We have come a long way since the Foundation began funding breast cancer research in 1986. However, there is still much work to be done. Breast cancer continues to be the most commonly diagnosed breast cancer among Canadian women, with 1 in 9 estimated to be diagnosed in her lifetime.
That’s why the Foundation continues putting donor dollars to work by investing in grants dedicated to understanding and addressing the full spectrum of the disease.
Grant competition: Earlier Detection of Breast Cancer
In fall 2011, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) launched a new research funding opportunity called the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation National Grant Competition on the Earlier Detection of Breast Cancer. A $5 million initiative, this new competition underscores the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s commitment to earlier detection as a nation-wide priority to reduce the impact of breast cancer.
