Breast cancer has come a long way since the Foundation began funding research, education and awareness initiatives 25 years ago. Today, breast cancer has become one of the leading health causes of our time.
However, there is still much work to be done. Breast cancer continues to be the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian women, with 1 in 9 estimated to be diagnosed in her lifetime.
That’s why education and awareness about breast health, being breast aware, reducing breast cancer risk and community outreach are vital.
The Prairies/NWT Region has a number of initiatives with a focus on breast health awareness, risk reduction and early detection.
Breast Health Life Plan
One such program is the Breast Health Life Plan, a new Facebook app education campaign encouraging women to take an active role in their breast health to reduce their risk of developing breast cancer and to detect it as early as possible.
Breast Health Information Series
In an effort to educate women about all facets of breast cancer, the Region has introduced a new series of Breast Health Brochures, with helpful information on a variety of breast health topics. Click to download the full PDF brochure.
